Quantity Estimates

We make use of a complete electronic estimating, scheduling and management system for the construction industry. It remains to this day the only construction estimating software to incorporate a full database of Material and Labour rates for each province.

The database - relating to all building methods and materials, is regularly updated with the latest material prices. The reports provided include the following:

  • Rates List report – You’re shopping list for the Project. Shows a consolidated, alphabetical, rounded list of all resources required for the Project, separated by cost category. For each item it shows the item’s ordering quantity (rounded), unit of measure, discount (if any), unit price, VAT, and total cost. View Sample
  • Detailed Activity report – Looks like a priced Bill of Quantities. Project is divided into trades, each trade containing those Formulae that have been measured. For each formula, the description, measured quantity, cost per unit, and total cost is given. Total cost per trade, and total Project cost are also given, but gives the exact breakdown of items used in every Formula. For every Formula, the exact quantity and cost of every material, labour item, plant, fee, and sub-contractor item used to make up the final cost is given. This Report can be extremely long, especially for large Projects. Is very helpful though, as it gives you an idea as to which materials you need to order at various stages of your Project. • Summary of Trades report – The handiest ‘summary’ type Report. No matter how large your Project is, this Report is always only one page in length. For every trade measured, gives the total cost per cost category (material, labour, and so on), the total cost per trade, and the percentage each trade contributes to the total Project cost. It also shows the total cost per cost category. View Sample

Unfortunately, there is no way you can produce an accurate estimate by using the Price Files we supply, without customising the prices to your own circumstances.

There are three very good reasons for this:

Firstly, the prices we use in each region are average prices. We source our prices from a number of suppliers in each region, and then calculate the average price for that product. In other words, we do not give our clients prices from individual suppliers.

Secondly, the prices we use are average retail prices. This is the price that the man in the street pays if he walks into a store and pays cash for a single unit of an item. Our prices do not take discounts of any kind into account. We are aware that the majority of our users receive discounts in varying degrees from their suppliers. However we have no idea what those discounts are and discounts may vary from one client to another.

We therefore have to start from some common baseline – that being the retail price.

  • Request option 1 - Provide us with your name, contact detail, a bill of quantities and we will determine the cost of your project.
  • Request option 2 - Provide us with your name, contact detail, and a copy of your plans, and we will determine the bill of quantities needed, with a costing, to complete your project successfully.

Send an e-mail with name, contact detail and a copy of the plans or bill of quantities attached, and we will get back to you. (PS. The service fee to be quoted on according to the complexity of the project.)
